Bunny Oliver
Board Member
Bunny Oliver is a professional artist and lifelong resident of Austin, Texas. She has traveled to Juticalpa, Honduras, at her own expense nine times since 2000. In 2002, she founded the AHH scholarship program for young people in Juticalpa to continue their education beyond the 7th grade. She has served on the board for 20 years and is a past board president.
John Ellett
Co-Founder and Board Chair
John Ellett is a an internationally acclaimed author, contributor to Forbes CMO Network, and expert on the role of CMOs as marketing change agents. He advises CEOs and CMOs on growth strategies and organization transformation as CEO of The Ellett Group. Previously, he was a senior partner at Prophet Brand Strategies; CEO of Springbox, and CEO of nFusion. Prior to that, Ellett was a marketing and communications executive at Dell and IBM. He is a founding director and past board chair of First Tee Greater Austin and serves on the board of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. John founded Austin Helps Honduras in 1999 to help build homes for victims of Hurricane Mitch after the storm devastated parts of Juticalpa. As building projects wrapped up in the early 2000s, John led the group’s successful segue into providing education scholarships for students from low-income families in the area.
Glen Anderson
Board Member
Glen Anderson is a retired career U.S. Air Force officer who specialized in military manpower and logistics planning. He has served on the AHH board since 2009, and since 2015 has served, alongside his wife Alfrieda, as co-chair of the group’s scholarship program. In that capacity, he has traveled to Juticalpa at his own expense each year to oversee the group’s scholarship budget and celebrate scholarship students’ successes.
Janis Daemmrich
Treasurer
Janis Daemmrich has served as AHH treasurer since 2022 following her first trip to Juticalpa in 2000. She is a former newspaper reporter and marketing and communications manager and is a long-time business owner and downtown Austin property owner. She is on the board of the Downtown Austin Alliance and on DAA’s Active Urbanism committee, is an advisory board member of the Austin Monitor, and serves on the finance committee of BookSpring.
Becky Montgomery
Board Member
Becky Montgomery is a retired school teacher who joined the AHH board in 2000 after making her first trip to Juticalpa with the group. She is a Stephen Minister at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Austin, where she also serves on the church’s pre-school board and leads the bereavement committee, and serves on the board of the Chestnut Place Condominium Association.
Dick Rathgeber
Co-Founder and Board Vice-Chair
Dick Rathgeber is a retired real estate developer and, along with his wife Sara, an active philanthropist. He and Sara are long-time major supporters of local, regional, and international causes including the Salvation Army, Austin SAFE Alliance, Austin People’s Community Clinic, Meals on Wheels Central Texas, Honduras Good Works, and many others. He volunteered his time, money, and expertise in Juticalpa to help build houses for victims of Hurricane Mitch in 1999 and 2000 and has remained an active member of the AHH board since then.
Steve Scott
Board Member
Steve Scott has worked in information technology for 25 years, leading IT operations and security programs within the marketing and automotive industries. Steve has been associated with Austin Helps Honduras since taking his first trip to Honduras with the group around 2003. He joined the board of Austin Helps Honduras in 2022. In his spare time, he enjoys working as a musician and volunteering in various service ministries.
Chas Studor
Board Member
Chas Studor is a technology entrepreneur with years of experience in new product development. He holds 22 patents to his name. Prior to founding his own robotic barista company in 2011, he served in various senior roles in the semiconductor industry. As board chair of the Austin Children’s Shelter (now Austin SAFEAlliance) in 2014, he successfully led the group during its construction of a new $14.5M campus. He is a long-time board member and past president of AHH.
